History Control Station was formed by Dr. Douglas Cooper. Prior to launching the Company, Dr. Cooper was a researcher in the oil and gas industries. It was then that he witnessed the challenges faced by process technicians and engineers. With few tools to assist them, process technicians and engineers were ill-equipped to optimize the performance of systems that controlled large refineries. Tools that were available demanded significant investments in software and training. And they failed to address the needs of a critical group – customers. In forming Control Station, Dr. Cooper focused on the needs of customers by developing control technologies that were both robust and easily applied. Dr. Cooper entered academia in 1985 as a member of the faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Chemical Engineering. Since his arrival at UConn, Dr. Cooper has focused on process control solutions that blend sophistication with ease-of-use. Combined, these two characteristics enable process technicians and engineers of all levels to improve their control over plant operations. They are also the hallmarks of each of Control Station’s process control solutions. ![]() Officially founded in 1998 under the name Control Station Technologies and headquartered near the UConn campus, the Company has harnessed the creative energies of its academic surroundings. Under Dr. Cooper’s leadership, The Process Control Consortium was organized in the same year. The consortium is an international association of process control professionals that has channeled the creative thinking of the process control community and overcome many challenges faced by industry practitioners. Today, Control Station is a registered C-Corporation with office headquarters in Tolland, Connecticut. We operate under the same guiding principles – to develop solutions that are innovative and easy-to-use. Our solutions empower process technicians and engineers with their simplicity and by providing tangible value. With a growing portfolio of solutions, Control Station is committed to helping companies across the process industries to secure and maintain a competitive advantage. |
