Practical Process Control Workshop Series

Two Day Workshop

"Techniques for Applied Process Control"

Techniques for Applied Process Control provides a thorough understanding of dynamic process behavior and examines both concepts and techniques associated with maintaining classical and advanced PID controllers. The course covers industrially-relevant control systems, and it stresses a systematic approach for diagnosing and optimizing underperforming control loops.

The training was very valuable. It gave me a better understanding of process control and much greater confidence in tuning.

M.H., Process Engineer, McGean Specialty Chemicals

Who Should Attend
Our training services are designed for industry practitioners. This is a two-day, hands-on workshop ideally suited for those who use, maintain, tune, design or optimize your plant’s process control systems.

What You Will Learn
We focus on practical knowledge and proven techniques. You will learn the skills and intuition needed to analyze and improve control loop architectures, loop performance and controller tuning to optimize overall process performance.

Two Day Curriculum

Day One
provides a systematic approach for design, implementation, testing and analysis of the full capabilities of the PID controller. You will gain a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the different PID forms, and establish a firm foundation for the investigation of more advanced control concepts.

Day One topics include:
  · Fundamentals of Dynamic Process Behavior
  · Process Data Collection and Analysis
  · The Recipe for Successful Controller Design and Tuning
  · Design and Tuning of PI, PID and PID w/ Filter Controllers
  · Nonlinear Behavior and Adaptive Control
  · Optimizing PID Performance for Industrial Applications

Day Two explores the structure and benefits of advanced classical control strategies. Methods and uses for process modeling are studied in more detail. Equipped with techniques for evaluating advanced control architectures, you will possess the capabilities required to establish and maintain optimal control strategies.

 Day Two topics include:
  · Cascade Control Design and Tuning
  · Modeling Dynamic Process Behavior Using Plant Data
  · Simulating Control Loops for Offline “What-If” Studies
  · Model-Based Control and Feed Forward
  · Control of Non-Self Regulating Processes

Free Training Software
Included in the course fee is a 30 day license to L
