Robert Rice, PhD

Lead Instructor and Vice President of Engineering
Dr. Rice has contributed significantly to the expansion and delivery of Control Station's training services. In collaboration with Hershey Foods and Chevron Products Company, Dr. Rice formulated introductory and advanced process control workshops, extending the Practical Process Control portfolio. He also developed workshops customized for the cement and brewery industries. Beyond instruction, Dr. Rice has published extensively on topics associated with automatic process control, including multi-variable process control and model predictive control. He is an expert in both model-based and advanced controls, including unstable and integrating processes. Dr. Rice was an engineer with PPG Industries (Shelby, North Carolina).
Dr. Rice is a highly regarded speaker and recognized thought leader in the automation market. He received the Speaker of the Year award in 2009 from ISA's St. Louis Chapter. In 2010 he was inducted into Control Engineering Magazine's inaugural class of "Engineers Under 40". Dr. Rice is regularly invited to present at industry conference on topics related to process control and plant optimization.
Dr. Rice received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic and State University and both his MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
